SUMMARY:Wisdom Series: Queer & BIPOC
DESCRIPTION:Eastside Pathways Wisdom Series – Session Two 🌈\nWhy Don’t We Talk About It?: The Trans & BIPOC Representation In Media📅 Friday\, May 30\, 2025🕕 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM📍 Kirkland City Hall – Council Chambers🍿 Popcorn provided! \nWhat does it mean to be seen\, to be heard\, to be uplifted?Join us for the second gathering in the Eastside Pathways Wisdom Series\, a bi-monthly space for film\, dialogue\, and collective reflection around identity\, race\, and belonging in East King County. \nThis session’s theme—“We Don’t Talk About It”—centers the intersectional experiences of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities\, and the silence that often surrounds these truths in our region. \n🎬 We’ll be screening Disclosure\, a groundbreaking documentary that examines how transgender people have been represented in media—and the real-life impacts of those portrayals. \nAfter the film\, we’ll hear from local organizations that support queer\, trans\, and LGBTQIA+ young people. This is not a call for personal storytelling (unless offered by choice)—it’s a space to lift up the programs\, leadership\, and strategies making East King County safer and more inclusive. \nThis evening is about listening without extraction\, learning through community wisdom\, and committing to collective care. Let’s grow our capacity to be allies\, co-conspirators\, and changemakers—together. \n📧 If your organization supports LGBTQIA+ youth and would like to share your work\, email angela@eastsidepathways.org to get involved.

SUMMARY:High School and Beyond Collaborative Action Network (CAN)
DESCRIPTION:The High School and Beyond CAN aims to support pathways of youth aged 17-26 in East King County. This will include high school\, post-secondary enrollment\, post-secondary completion\, and career pathways. By focusing on the youth who are furthest from justice\, the CAN will examine relevant indicators and develop effective strategies to turn theoretical equitable outcomes into tangible results. \nCurrently\, on a primarily virtual schedule. All meetings will be different so please aim to be present at 15-20hrs worth in the calendar year. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 12pm-1:30pm. Most meetings are held virtually and select meetings are in-person based on Participant selection. \nPlease contact angela@eastsidepathways.org if you are interested in joining this Collaborative Action Network.
