Dan Ryan, the CEO of All Hands Raised, the ‘backbone’ organization for the All Hands Raised Partnership in Multnomah County, has been named as the winner of the Bill Henningsgaard C2C Champion award winner at the 2014 StriveTogether National Cradle to Career Convening in San Diego.

“We are here to wrap ourselves around the schools. We are here to love these kids,” Ryan said during the award presentation. “We are not here to be know-it-alls. We are here to keep people at the table. It’s about ‘we,’ not the ‘us.’ I accept this for all the great people in Portland and Multnomah County.”

The Bill Henningsgaard C2C Champion Award was created in 2013 to honor the life of Bill Henningsgaard who worked as a tireless advocate for kids, bringing together community partners in support of a common vision of maximizing each child’s opportunity for a productive, fulfilling life at Eastside Pathways, a cradle to career partnership in Bellevue, Washington.

“Dan has exemplified what it means to work every single day to bring people of all backgrounds, sectors, and expertise together around shared results,” StriveTogether Managing Director Jeff Edmondson said. “As a result, he is a national leader for all those looking to transform how we serve children each and every day from cradle to career.”

Because of proximity, Ryan and Henningsgaard had the opportunity to work together as part of the StriveTogether Cradle to Career Network, sharing ideas, challenges, lessons learned and their passion for helping more kids achieve their full potential.

“(Dan’s) leadership, humility, transparency and commitment to equity are clear in all he does,” said All Hands Raised VP Communication Jeanie-Marie Price, who nominated Ryan for the award. “Dan led the initiative of realigning the organization to take on the bold work to ensure that all children grow into education, independent adults who positively contribute to our community.”

Ryan joined All Hands Raised in 2008 as CEO, and under his leadership the organization has helped align more than 300 community partners and resources around practices, expectations and behaviors to improve outcomes for all kids in Multnomah County. Prior to All Hands Raised, Ryan worked in the arts, higher education and healthcare. He now serves on the advisory boards of Wells Fargo, the Portland Trail Blazers, Portland State University’s Graduate School of Education, and the Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) Service System Coordinating Council. In 2011, Ryan was named one of Portland Monthly Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Portlanders.

Congratulations Dan and All Hands Raised for all the hard work you do!
