Collaborative Action Network

Early Learning

Outcome Area: Early Learning

Overview:

The Early Learning Collaborative Action Network(CAN) is dedicated to creating equitable opportunities for the youngest learners in East King County. We work to ensure that every child has the support they need to thrive from early childhood through their entire educational journey.

What Does This Collaborative Action Network (CAN) Do?

  • Brings together educators, caregivers, and decision-makers to collaborate over a two-year cycle.

  • Uses a Collective Impact approach centered on data, strategy development, and shared learning.

  • Encourages deep engagement, team collaboration, and long-term commitment.

  • Builds connections to promote a sense of belonging while advancing equitable change.

How Will This CAN Improve Outcomes?

Through collaborative, data-informed work, the CAN enhances early learning experiences for all children, especially those facing systemic barriers. Past strategies have already been scaled through Eastside Pathways’ “Scale and Sustain” initiative, showing lasting impact across the region.

Core Values

  • Social Justice: Championing children furthest from opportunity.

  • Belonging: Fostering inclusive, connected communities.

  • Collectivism: Embracing shared wisdom and responsibility.

  • Equity: Tackling systems-level disparities with intention.

  • Growth Mindset: Practicing curiosity, flexibility, and innovation.

Guiding principles include: Collaboration, Data-Driven Decision Making, Commitment, Systems Thinking, and Sustainability.

Who Can Join?

Everyone is welcome—parents, professionals, and community members alike. No prior experience is needed. All that’s required is a passion for equitable early learning and a willingness to contribute to long-term, creative solution.
