Eastside Pathways Closes in on Indicators and Metrics

On December 16, over 35 participants joined the Eastside Pathways Core Team and Phase 2 Facilitators to review the development of indicators and metrics linked to six goals:

Goal 1: Every child has a healthy start.
Goal 2: Parents and significant adults are supported in their efforts to help their child succeed.
Goal 3: Every child attains optimal physical and mental health and safety.
Goal 4: Every child develops social and emotional skills for life effectiveness.
Goal 5: Every child is prepared for academic and work success.
Goal 6: The community plays an active role in the success of Bellevue’s children.

Feedback was generally positive, and those in attendance offered insightful ideas about how to enhance and improve Eastside Pathways’ ongoing work. Suggested improvements included:

  • Developing a matrix to show how goal area indicators and/or metrics overlap
  • Constructing a history of decision-making and rationale behind decisions
  • Documenting community outreach efforts to ensure inclusion of diverse community voices
  • Ensuring consistency in terminology
  • Identifying measureable metrics to track growth over time

Core Team members are at work creating a goal, indicator, and metrics matrix; identifying key decisions made as Eastside Pathways has evolved; and documenting community outreach. Phase 2 Facilitators are working with goal area work groups to revise indicator statements and link valid, reliable metrics to the indicators.

The anticipation of Phase 2 work is the end of January to mid-February. Following Phase 2 will be a two-part effort to identify baseline data using the identified metrics, and to determine strategies to achieve the six goals that support the success of children and youth on their journey from cradle to career.
