Space to Grieve, Learn, and Act

May 25, 2022 | News, News 2022

As Eastside Pathways, we are again grieving the losses of important members of communities throughout the country, especially youth and children.  Notably, the victims of the recent acts of gun violence in New York, California, and Texas were all harmed because of their identities.

We are a partnership of members who have each made a commitment to advancing equitable and adaptive systems change. To ensure progress towards guaranteeing the safety and security of everyone, we at Eastside Pathways seek to unite communities, increase understanding, and facilitate the difficult but necessary steps towards systemic change.  This is a process not a destination.

We also recognize the need to respond in real time to the events occurring in our greater society. Supportive relationships are the foundation of our work and the wellbeing of our community.  Eastside Pathways is committed to convening safe spaces for collective healing, connection, and growth. Please consider joining one of our regular programs:

  • POC Only CANSpace to connect with other people of color in East King County. This space is focused on racial consciousness and healing.
  • White Affinity group: Space for those who identify as White to learn, challenge, support, and ask questions of themselves and of each other, related to their own racial equity journey.
  • Wisdom Series: Learning & discussion series, monthly meetings open to all community members.
  • Racial Equity CouncilCommunity of practice for those leading DEI action in East King County.

Inclusion, communication, and security are essential for our society and people to thrive.  May we unite not just in our feelings of grief and anger, but in our resolve to do the hard work so that the youth of today can build a future where they are welcomed, respected, and always feel hope.

In community,

The Eastside Pathways Backbone
